B-21 Transition Services

B-21 Transition Services help young adults with mild to moderate challenges gain independence and prepare for life on their own. B-21 teaches meal preparation, housekeeping, consumer skills, money management, travel and transportation management. B-21 teaches individuals how to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle.

The Cedar Ridge Elementary School Austim Pilot Program is designed to meet the individual needs of children who are on the Autism Spectrum. The classroom provides a 1:1 teacher to student ratio which allows for a language-based Applied Behavior Analysis educational environment. Teaching strategies move from a high structured to a less structured environment for acquisition of new skills. The immediate goal of the program is to improve each student's quality of life by improving critical communicative and language skills, social skills, academics, adaptive skills and fine/gross motor skills. The focus of each student's program is based on his or her individual needs and learning style. Systematic teaching addresses those deficits that have interfered with the student's ability to learn and their ability to participate socially in society. The overall goal is to provide each student with a specialized education that includes community based educational opportunities to foster independence.

Pueblo SChool District No. 70 wants to ensure that ll parents stay informed of new developments and research in the educational field of autism; therefore, we would like to invite all parents and staff to attend monthly training workshops.

Pueblo Community College (PCC) Alternative High School Diploma Program

The purpose of this program is to recruit students back into the educational system and provide them with an opportunity to earn a high school diploma and encourage a higher eduation.

Transitional Assistance Program (TAP)

The Transitional Activities Program (TAP) was started by Pueblo School District No. 70 in August 2006. The purpose of TAP is to provide post-secondary transition programming for 18-21 year old special needs District students. These students have completed the high school portion of their educational program and need to continue working on their transition goals. TAP is designed to assist students who need a more functional, community-based curriculum to assist their transition into adulthood.
The goals for TAP include:
  • Basic vocational skill instruction
  • Participation in college courses
  • Increase mobility within the community
  • Facilitating access to adult service agencies
  • Providing interaction with others of similar ages and needs
  • Developing age-appropriate leisure and recreational skills
