Privacy Laws and Statutes
District 70 respects the privacy of student data and information and complies with various federal and state laws and statutes that protect them. These include the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the Children’s Internet Protection Act (CIPA), and the Colorado Children’s Code (C.R.S. 19-1-303/304) at the federal level, and the Colorado Student Data Transparency and Security Act (HB16-1423) at the state level, which was enacted in 2016 and had a compliance deadline of December 31st, 2017.
