School Counselors

OUR VISION

In District 70, we prioritize the development of social-emotional skills and academic achievement and equipping students with the tools and skills they need to attain post-secondary success, build meaningful relationships, and contribute positively to their communities.

Our Mission

District 70 counselors provide comprehensive, equitable, and student-centered counseling services that foster the holistic development of every child. We are dedicated to creating a supportive and inclusive environment where students feel empowered to explore their academic, social, emotional, and career potential. Through collaborative partnerships, we deliver evidence-based practices and interventions that promote resilience, well-being, and academic success. Students receive personalized guidance and support to navigate challenges, set meaningful goals, and realize their full potential.

The Essential Roles of Our School Counselors

  • Delivering direct student services through classroom guidance, individual student planning, and responsive services
  • Providing brief individual and group counseling and support
  • Making appropriate referrals to clinical counselors for ongoing support
  • Integrating social-emotional learning into the comprehensive school counseling program
  • Collaborating with families, teachers, and community resources to support student success
  • Managing and responding to crises effectively
  • Advocating for mental health awareness and reducing stigma within the school community
  • Using data to identify student needs, measure program effectiveness, and improve student outcomes

Our Foundation

The ASCA National Model has four main parts that help school counselors do their job well. First, they set goals and beliefs. Then, they provide different services to help students. They also organize their work and use information to make good choices. Finally, they show how their work helps students succeed in school and life. This model makes sure students get the support they need to do well in classes, plan for their future, and grow as people.
