LANGUAGE ARTS

• Talk among peers to develop conversation with correction sentence structure
• Research a topic and write about it
• With support from adults, create a presentation on the computer and talk about it in front of peers
• Write and draw to compose opinion, informational, and narrative projects
• Explain a story from a variety of books

 

MATH

• Develop number sense to relate math to real world experiences
• Evaluate and describe the physical world by using measurement
• Solve real problems using shapes and numbers (tens and ones)
• Collect, organize, and interpret data related to real world situations

 

 

SCIENCE

• Ask questions and make predictions based on observations of a situation
• Develop and use models to represent solutions
• Plan and conduct investigations based tests
• Collect, record, and identify patterns in data
• Explain solutions of experiments
• Compare/contrast ideas about natural science
• Use text and graphics to explain science concepts
• Identify patterns, cause, and effect, compare/contrast, systems, energy and matter

 

SOCIAL STUDIES

• Understand the importance of identifying patterns and trends of past events
• Identify and analyze examples of world connection in our community, state, or region using maps and databases.
• Analyze the differences between wants and needs to find answers to questions about our world
• Examine issues involving rights and responsibilities of individuals and groups in our society

 

MUSIC

• Perform songs, simple melodies and rhythms
• Read and write music using basic music symbols
• Move to music through listening and movement

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

• Demonstrate basic movement rhythmic skills
• Demonstrate skills of moving objects
• Identify the body's normal reactions to moderate and vigorous physical activity
• Develop movement control for safe participation in games and sports
