LANGUAGE ARTS

• Participate actively in presentations and discussions
• Conduct short research projects to answer questions using credible and reliable sources
• Compose a variety of written texts, according to purpose and audience
• Analyze varied types of texts, comparing and contrasting where needed

 

MATH

• Solve real problems using proportional reasoning in a wide variety of situations
• Use statistics to gain information about populations
• Model real-world situations using math
• Justify solutions to problems in everyday situations reflecting the use of math in everyday situations

 

SCIENCE

• Formulate and refine testable questions and models that explore scientific processes.
• Identify variables and design investigations that employ measurable and testable variables.
• Predict the outcome of scientific investigations and support that prediction with research and scientific reasoning.
• Design and conduct scientific investigations.
• Collect, analyze, and interpret data using multiple sources of evidence
• Evaluate experimental hypothesis and support the evaluation with specific evidence
• Relate experimental data and procedures to specific content presented in class
• Revise and suggest new models and investigations that may expand on concepts.

 

SOCIAL STUDIES

• Formulate an opinion and forecast a specific position about historical and geographical areas
• Assess the role of resources, technology and trade and how it affects governmental and cultural systems
• Analyze origins, structure, and functions of governments
• Evaluate the impact of values, beliefs, and institutions

 

PHYSICAL EDUCATION

• Combine the critical elements of movement and skills concepts.
• Develop strategies to communicate ideas and feelings.
• Demonstrate inclusiveness in and out of the classroom setting.
• Implement safety procedures in the utilization of space and equipment.

MUSIC

• Perform and sight-read music at appropriate difficulty levels in major and minor keys
• Create music through composition and improvisation
• Identify and demonstrate an understanding of musical notation and elements
• Evaluate performances, compositions, and individual experiences in music
• Articulate and analyze individual experiences in music

VISUAL ARTS

• Understand and recognize the characteristics of art in a works of art.
• Identify and discuss the expressive features of art and design in works of art.
• Express specific meaning through artwork.
• Connect and transfer history, culture, community, and environment in the study of art.
